How To Paint Paintable Wallpaper


Before we begin, you must understand that if you are a beginner painter and have no painting skills with Common handtools, you will make yourself by letting a professional Paint Contractor handling this task painting paintable wallpaper. Paintable Wallpaper




Although this business is not rocket science it does require some expertise. Therefore, we will start.




Step # 1 - Getting Started.




Check the drywall and the wallpaper using a knife, cut off any curled, loose edge, especially at the top and bottom where the wallpaper to see the baseboard, crown molding, and seems to place the butt wallpaper together.




Next, you will need to fill the cut areas using drywall, joint compound all purposes. Fill in niche areas with joint compound, using a 5 or 6 inches to record a knife, and wipe out the surrounding area by increasing the blade angle your record. After the joint compound dries, you will in all likelihood have to apply a second layer of compound to complete the patching process.




Paintable WallpaperOnce dry, you feel rubing patches by your fingers on it, make sure the patch is flush with the existing wallpaper. A good rule is, if you can feel it, you can see it.




Satisfied that the patch job done, with a wet sponge, remove the excess joint compound from the surrounding areas of your patch.




Step # 2 - Priming




What you're trying to reach the surface of the primer is to form a moisture barrier between the new paint and paintable wallpaper adhesives. Most wallpaper glue that dissolves in water and if you do not prime the surface with a good oil based primer you run the risk of loosen wallpaper glue that will create bubbles and may cause the wallpaper to separate from the wall.




With brushes and rollers to apply a coat of oil-based Kilz. (Kilz a brand name you will be asked at your home improvement center.) Follow the instructions on the can allow it to dry completely. Repeat with second layer, ensuring that a good moisture barrier has been achieved.




Step # 3 - Apply Finish Coat Of Paint




Paintable WallpaperAt this time, you will choose the color of the coat. Using a latex (water based) Top Coat, Apply as many coats are needed to cover the white primer. For the record, you can have your primary color in the paint store to match the finish coat so you do not have problems with your finish coat coverage.
